I'm David Alejando, I earned a B.S. in Chemical Physics from the University Of California, Davis. I was President of the ACS Chemistry Club. I served an intership at Lawerence Livermore National Laboratory in Advanced Materials Synthesis and am currenlty serving another intership in Idaho Falls at Idaho National Laboritory in Electro Chemistry.
I created ThinkTankTutor to use my experience to guide students to college, and build their confidence in Mathematics.
I believe in Minimalism. I tutor Math from the point of view that the shortest path is the best path. I teach students multiple ways to solve a particular problem and they get to decide which method works best for them. Public School classrooms have thirty plus students and only one instructor. The low instructor to student ratio makes it difficult for more than one method to be taught leaving some students behind. When students feel they do not understand, they become self-conscience of their perceived lack of knowledge making them less successful in mathematics. Besides finding the right method, another of my principal goals is helping my students grow in confidence. I want my students to enjoy mathematics and enjoy success.
I stress understanding over memorization. I encourage my students to make errors when working with me, learning Mathematics under less stress makes it effortless. Confidence together with less stress makes for a better state of mind that is able to learn and acquire new information faster and more permanent.
